MUNCH AND MOVE

Eating a balance of vegetables, fruit, dairy, protein and grains means more energy to exercise, and more fun to play. We support families to learn through our practices, resources, and our discussions.

FUNDING IN EARLY CHILDHOOD, AND HELP FOR FAMILIES

In NSW, there are different types of funding in early childhood. NSW State Department of Education, funds community based Pre Schools, local councils fund their owned services, and the Federal Australian Government funds private and some not for profit services that are called Approved services. Kids & Co Pre School is an Approved private service with an Approved Pre School program. Families with children enrolled at our service may receive up to 85 % of the Australian Government estimated hourly rate, which is currently above our hourly rate. Eligible families can also apply for Additional Subsidy for financial hardship, which is up to 100% of the hourly rate. This is to ensure children continue to receive an education. The Australian Government committed to this by signing the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. The Federal Australian Government does not allow Approved services to give discounts. Employees can speak with their employer for discounts to receive extra help with fees.

WHAT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE APPROVED SERVICE?

The Australian Department of Education (not NSW Department of Education) receives absences and attendances relating to enrolled children at the Approved service. Approved services do not liaise with Services Australia (Centrelink), only families. Families apply via the primary carer’s My Gov account and this is directed to Services Australia. Services Australia will send this application to the Australian Government who approves or rejects it. Eligible families will be given rebate shown on a Government generated statement provided to them by the Approved service. Families only pay the service a difference in fees. See link below for step by step instructions how to apply, and this process can start from the birth of a child.

IMMUNISATION

We take children’s health and safety seriously, and are happy to help families protect them. NSW Health has a wealth of information regarding health at home, and protect children from illnesses. All children must be fully immunised to be enrolled at our service, and families must provide a Immunisation History Statement as verification before children attend the service.

ALLERGIES

Children eat food at Pre School, which is prepared at home. Working with all families to protect children with Anaphylaxis and Allergies is important to us. The website link below will provide further information for families. Risk management and communication plans help us protect children with their family and children’s medical practitioner.

ASTHMA

Extra care is taken to protect children if they demonstrate symptoms of Asthma during the day. If children require Asthma medication, a medical action plan from a medical practitioner and family input guide our procedures.
